Christina Akers-DiCenzo, Esq., Associate Attorney
Christina is admitted in New York State and the United States District Court for the Western District of New York. She practices plaintiff-side employment law with a focus on pregnancy accommodation and discrimination, workplace lactation and breastfeeding rights, parental leave, sexual harassment, disability discrimination, wage and hour, and retaliation law.
Prior to joining the firm, Christina worked for ten years in public service and community development. Early in her career, Christina worked as a paralegal specialist for the U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division’s Transportation, Energy, and Agricultural Section and the Division’s Office of the Assistant Attorney General. Upon returning to Buffalo, Christina earned her Master in Urban Planning from the University at Buffalo and later worked as the director of two local not-for-profits. Christina also served the City of Buffalo’s Permits and Inspections Department as a senior special assistant for the Commissioner, and later as a chief of staff for a member of the New York State Assembly. Christina worked as a field staffer on President Barack Obama’s first presidential campaign in the swing state of Pennsylvania.
While at the University at Buffalo School of Law, Christina served as a judicial intern for the Hon. Deborah A. Haendiges of the Erie County Supreme Court in the 8th Judicial District of New York. During her third year of law school, Christina and her partner won first place at the law school’s mediation competition. Christina is a former board of director of Housing Opportunities Made Equal and the Allentown Association.
Christina is a member of the Erie County Bar Association, the Women’s Bar Association of Western New York, the Minority Bar Association of Western New York, the American Bar Association, the National Employment Lawyers Association, and the National Employment Lawyers Association of New York. Christina is also an active member of the Women’s Bar Association of Western New York’s Working Parent’s Committee and Employment Law Committee.
